Born 13/08/1974 Lives and Works in Liège, Belgium
With roots in Liege, Laurent Impeduglia is a painter, drawer and an all-around active participant on the international art scene for dozens of years, in the atavistic manner so very well championed by his forerunners Jacques Charlier and Jacques Lizène. A self-proclaimed “artist of mediocrity”, Impeduglia thought nothing of writing “I’m idiot” in capital letters on one of his recent canvases. The message is clear: nothing and nobody should be taken seriously. Cultivating irony and bad taste with determination, his work can be characterized by garish colors, rough sketching and a great deal of crossing-out. In no order of priority and with no clear aim, he mixes trivial objects and abstract forms with philosophical or religious symbols, while taking pleasure in ridiculing established values (art, work, money…).Certificate of authenticity available upon request.
