Toby Goodshank is a visual artist and musician based in Brooklyn, New York.
Through utilizing a blend of styles and symbols inspired by film, comics and fine art, plus contemporary images of the urban flotsam which city dwellers are faced with on a daily basis, and visual imagery culled from both dreams and imagination, Goodshank’s work explores deviant sexuality, extreme violence and loneliness.
A recording artist with over twenty self-released solo albums to his credit, Goodshank was a member of The Moldy Peaches and is an auxiliary member of The Pizza Underground. He helped to shoot and direct music videos for Stanley Brinks (ex-Herman Dune) and JAN. He has assisted Adam Green with many of his gallery shows and helped to shoot Green’s feature film The Wrong Ferarri. Goodshank co-founded the 3MB art collective with Green and Macaulay Culkin; their exhibition of collaborative paintings Leisure Inferno opened at le poisson rouge in September 2012. He recently lived in Berlin for one year, which culminated in an exhibition of his solo paintings in July 2013. His pornographic comic book Under The Tartufo Moon quickly sold out of it’s first printing in February of this year. Goodshank is currently assisting Adam Green in the construction and painting of paper mache props for Green’s forthcoming feature film Aladdin, while also readying a new comic book release for the winter.
