You may recognize the name Nick Kuszyk.
Some odd years ago, Cinders had an insane show with Nick that consisted of a wraparound mural, hundreds of paintings, and a column you could touch that made space sounds. The theme of that show and of his entire body of work for well over a decade was ROBOTS. And we loved them. Robots invaded every nook and cranny of Brooklyn when he moved there and it seemed like people couldn’t get enough.
So what does he do for his latest show down at FLA Gallery?
Lose them completely. Instead we get a wide array of pop art: abstracted color fields, bricks, apples, humans, butts, splatters, patterns, and organized interiors. We get an artist fucking around. But that’s why its awesome because you see an artist just playing with paint and ideas. and some of them are silly and some of them actually really work. Some of them are down right hilarious too and that is always good to remember to do when looking at art.
